Corine Trice Eller (Dec. 11, 1930 – July 7, 2015)
Corine Trice Eller, 84, of Newland, entered her Heavenly home on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Life Care Center of Banner Elk.

She was born December 11, 1930 a daughter of the late Von and Thosa Johnson Trice.
She had worked at Glen Raven Mills and retired from Newland Elementary School cafeteria after over 20 years of service, where she loved to see and feed the children. Many years later, children would see her and remember her as the “Lunchroom Lady.” Corine enjoyed gardening, and working in her flower beds.
She attended and was a member of the First Baptist Church Newland.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Roland “Dutch” Eller; sister, Maxine Presnell; brothers, Bob Trice and Max Trice.
Corine has left to cherish her memory her: son, Larry Eller, and his wife, Abby, of Kennesaw, GA; daughter, Tammy Buchanan, and her husband, Joe, of Newland; brother, Charles Trice, and his wife, Louise, of Newland; granddaughters, Sarah and Maggie Eller of Kennesaw, Rachel Parsons, and her husband Joey, of Cary, NC, Stefanie Buchanan of Newland; a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Corine Trice Eller will be conducted on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church Newland with Dr. Bill Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Newland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday evening at the funeral home

Jerry Enscore, Jr. (Feb. 1, 1949 – July 7, 2015)
Mr. Glenn Wallace Jerry Enscore, Jr., of Laurel Springs passed away Tuesday morning, July 7, 2015 at his home.
Born Feb. 1, 1949 in Winston-Salem he was a son of the late Glenn Wallace Enscore and Ethel Marie Lash. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Jerry was a graduate of East Forsyth High School. He and his wife Susan owned and operated J. & S. Service of West Jefferson.
He is survived by two sons, Jamie Enscore and wife Emma of Kernersville, NC and Johnny Enscore and wife Tracy of Belews Creek, six grandchildren, Skylar, Zoe, Austin, Chastan, Kamryn and Maddox. He is also survived by one brother, Mike Enscore, and one niece, Tara Enscore. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Susan Enscore, one sister, Margaret Fish, and one brother Chris Enscore.

Anthony Ray “Tony” Arsenault (Oct. 26, 1962 – July 06, 2015)
Anthony Ray “Tony” Arsenault, 52, of Castle Ford Road, Boone, passed away Monday morning, July 6, 2015 at his residence.
Tony was born October 26, 1962 in San Luis Obisbo, California, a son of the late Donald Lloyd Arsenault and Linda Carol Smith Arsenault. He was a U.S. Marine Veteran, and was a sales clerk for Wilco/Hess.
Tony is survived by his wife, Paula Eldreth Arsenault of the home; two sons, Aaron Arsenault and wife Marrion and Zachary Arsenault of Boone; two brothers, Don Arsenault and wife Sandy of Fresno, California, and Doug Arsenault and fiancé Amanda of West Jefferson; father and mother-in-law, Carl and Elizabeth Eldreth of Boone; one niece, Linda Arsenault and one nephew, Alex Arsenault, both of West Jefferson.
Funeral services for Anthony Ray “Tony” Arsenault will be conducted Monday afternoon, July 13, 2015 at 2:00 o’clock at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state, at the chapel from 1:00 until 2:00. Officiating will be Pastor J.D. Walton.
Military honors, provided by American Legion Post 130, will follow. Burial at the White Cemetery, will be private. The family will receive friends Monday afternoon, from 1:00 until 2:00, at the Chapel, prior to the service.

Mrs. Sharon Lee Cunningham Greene, 77, of Boone passed away Tuesday night, July 7, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. Born August 10, 1937 in West Branch, Michigan, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Marie Beaver Cunningham.
Sharon was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband Bernard Greene. Sharon had five children, eleven grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.

Charles M. Moretz (August 31, 1958 – July 6, 2015)
Charles Michael Moretz, 56, of Hamptons Trailer Circle, Boone, passed away Monday evening, July 6, 2015 at his home. Charles was born August 31, 1958 in Watauga County. He retired as a sales clerk from the Boone ABC store.

Charles was the greatest husband, Daddy, Popou, son, brother, uncle, father-in-law, brother-in-law, friend and a very hard worker who was loved by all who knew him. A nature lover, he enjoyed bow hunting and target shooting. But above all, he loved God and all his creations. Charles loved life, and could always see the best of any situation.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Presnell Moretz; son, Michael Scott Moretz of Fleetwood; two daughters, Samantha Nicole Moretz and Megan Moretz Hudson and husband, Brandon, and granddaughter, Abigail Hudson, all of Boone; his mother, Mary Yates Moretz of Deep Gap; sisters, Phyllis Remkus and husband, Mike, of Concord, and Lois Walker and husband, Charlie, of Boone; brothers, Dennis Moretz and wife, Cheryl, of Jonas Ridge, and Ernest Moretz and wife, Peri, of Deep Gap; and his father-in-law, Floyd Presnell and wife, Louise, of Granite Falls. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar Wade Moretz; mother-in-law, Barbara Presnell, and brother-in-law, Billy Presnell.
A celebration of life service for Charles Michael Moretz will be held at a later date.

Florence “Jack” Johnson Turbyfill, age 87, of Elk Park passed away on July 6, 2015 at her residence.
She was born July 18, 1927 in Carter County, Tenn., a daughter of the late Abraham and Rosabelle Church Johnson. Florence was of the Baptist faith.
Along with her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her: husband, Ben Clifford Turbyfill; son, Billy Turbyfill; daughters, Peggy Turbyfill, Geraldine Guinn; sisters, Lu Smith, Jessee Correll, Tildy Oaks; brothers, Wes Church, Dewey Johnson, Rob Johnson, and Lawrence Johnson.

Rex Leonard Holtsclaw (Jan. 11, 1973 – July 5, 2015)
Rex Leonard Holtsclaw, 42, of Altamont, died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 5, 2015 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
A native of Avery County, he was a son of Hildred Maltba Holtsclaw of Altamont. He was a Truck Driver with heavy equipment.
In addition to his mother, he leaves behind a daughter, Ashley Clark of the home; sisters, Amber Barrier, and her husband, David, of Burke, NC, Pamela Calloway of Newland; nephews, Allen Barrier, Dillion Barrier; nieces, Brandy Calloway, Destiny Lowery and Taylor Lowery.

Norma Stewart (Feb. 26, 1946 – July 4, 2015)
Norma Jean Holtsclaw Stewart, 69, of Little Plumtree Creek, went home to be with her loving Savior on July 4, 2015 after losing her battle with lung cancer.
She was born on February 26, 1946 to the late William and Gertrude Holtsclaw of Pineola, NC.
She was a devoted member of Johnson Chapel and a very loving, caring, and giving mother and grandmother.
Along with her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, David Ray Stewart.
She loved her family and her church dearly and cherished every moment she had with them all. She was the most precious mother anyone could ever have and always had a beautiful, sweet smile on her face. She loved the Lord with all her heart and always had a wonderful testimony wherever she went. Her hobbies were working in her yard and spending time with her family. She loved to sing and had a beautiful voice.
Left to cherish her memory are: her three daughters, Teresa Stewart of Banner Elk, Lisa Edmisten and husband Bill of Little Plumtree Creek, Crystal Benfield and husband Jessie of Little Plumtree Creek; seven grandchildren, David Stewart and wife Kristi of Marion, Joe Edmisten and wife Sarah of Boone, Jennifer Taylor and husband Jason of Newland, Casey Deese and husband David of Licklog, Brittney Stewart of Banner Elk, Heather and Jessie Benfield of Little Plumtree Creek; seven great grandchildren.
All the family thanks God so much for blessing them with such a sweet precious mother and grandmother. Her memories will continue to live on in our hearts forever. She was a true living testimony for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Virginia Moody Simmons (March 5, 1924 – July 3, 2015)
Virginia Moody Simmons, 91, of Highway 105 By-Pass, Boone, passed away Friday afternoon, July 3, 2015, at Watauga Medical Center.

Born March 5, 1924 in Watauga County, she was a daughter of Willie and Beuna Trivett Moody. Virginia was a member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church and retired from the housekeeping department at Appalachian State University.
Mrs. Simmons is survived by two son, Jim Simmons and wife, Glenda, of Vilas, and George Simmons of Butler, Tenn.; daughter, Joyce Moore of Morganton; two grandsons, William Simmons and wife, Allison, of Charlotte, and Allen Simmons and wife, Kathy, of Vilas; one granddaughter, Colleen Cornette and husband, Michael, and one great-granddaughter, Katie Rose Cornette, all of Sherrills Ford; and two sisters, Viola Greene of Durham, and Irene Greer, of Boone.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stewart Henry Simmons; four sisters, Margaret Harmon, Inez Loudermelt, Verlee Parlier, and Daisy Helen Moody; one brother, Dwight Moody; and her parents.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon, July 6th, 2015, at 3 oclock, at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Chapel, officiated by Pastor Wynn Greer and Rev. Melvin Hodges. The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 1:30 until 3 oclock, prior to services, at Austin & Barnes. Graveside services will follow at the Danner Cemetery.

Mrs. Juanita Ayers, 90, of 132 Cobb Creek Road, Boone, died Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Watauga Medical Center.

Mrs. Ayers was born January 4, 1925 in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Stewart T. Brown and Lillie Belle Blackburn Brown. She was a retired cook and a member of Meat Camp Baptist Church.
Mrs. Ayers is survived by one brother, Don Brown and wife Charlotte, of Boone, twelve nieces, Hannah Brown, of Wilmington, Donnette Harris and husband Robbie, of Mooresville, Paulette Scott and family of Wenatchee, Washington, Linda Hicks and husband Lynn, of Wilkesboro, Judy Miller, of Linville, Pat Haney and husband Cleland, of Boone, Mary Adams and husband Howard of Boone, Martha Farr and family, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Lisa Brown and family of Hickory, Donna Skinner and family of Alabama, Joan Cole and family of Mississippi, and Karen Nations and family of Mississippi; three nephews, Alan Brown and family, of Mooresville, Jesse Brown and family, of Boone, and Gary Brown and family, of Boone and a close friend Diane Brown, of Boone, a number of great nieces and nephews, and extended Ayers family in Appomattox, Virginia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur L. Ayers, two sisters, Clara Shultz and Helen Brown, and two brothers, Buster Brown and Bobby Brown.
A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, July 5, 2015 at 4:00 o’clock at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Mike Townsend will officiate. The family will receive friends from 3 until 4 o’clock prior to the service at the chapel.

James Troy Stines (June 25, 1941 - July 2, 2015)

James Troy Stines, 74, of 211 Milton Brown Heirs Road, Boone, a former resident of Sugar Grove, passed away Thursday evening, July 2, 2015, at Glenbridge Health and Rehabilitation in Boone.
Mr. Stines was born June 25, 1941 in Avery County, a son of the late Floyd and Cleo Ward Stines. He was a retired employee of Vermont American and a member and former deacon of Willow Valley Baptist Church.
Mr. Stines is survived by his wife, Billie Parks Stines of the home; a foster son, Pete Kaczmarczyk of Wilkesboro, and two brothers, Jethro Stines and Melvin Stines. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death a foster son, Randy Parks; five brothers, Raymond, Ed, Jess, Dexter, and Bill Stines, and one sister Madeline Stines.
Funeral services for James Troy Stines will be conducted Sunday afternoon, July 5, 2015, at 1:30 PM, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state, at the chapel, from 12:30 until 1:30 PM. Officiating will be Reverend Ray Greene. Burial will follow in Willow Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.

Angeline P. Smith (Jan. 14, 1932 – June 29, 2015)

Ann Angeline Pistoresi Smith, 92, formerly of Appalachian Brian Estates, passed away peacefully Monday, June 29, 2015 at Watauga Medical Center. She was born on January 14, 1923 in Dalzell, Illinois to Natale and Adele Foli Pistoresi.
The family moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1930, where Ann remained until 2005, when she and her sister, Kay, moved to Boone, NC. Ann retired from Time, Inc. in Chicago, after 25 years as a computer operator for their billing department. She loved to read mysteries, knit, crochet, do crossword puzzles, and spend lots of time with her grandchildren.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Natale and Adele Foli Pistoresi, her sister, Catherine Mariani Pistoresi, and her brother, Theodore (Pistoresi) Ressi. Ann leaves behind her daughter, Mary Anne Smith Daly (Joseph) of Boone, NC. She was an extremely loving and involved nonna to her three grandchildren, Justin Daly, Christina Daly, and Nicholas Daly, all of Boone, NC. She had one surviving sister, Natalie Pistoresi Eifert, of Park Ridge, IL. Three nephews, Mark Eifert (Akemi) of Germany, Paul Eifert (Trina) of Chicago, IL, and Mike (Cindy) Eifert of Fort Wayne, IN. Two great nieces and a great nephew, Emily Eifert of Fort Wayne, IN, Julia Eifert of Fort Wayne, IL, and Matthew Eifert of Chicago, IL.
Ann also leaves behind her many friends from Appalachian Brian Estates, and all the people she has touched through her sweet ways and radiant smile.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Lukes Episcopal Church, 170 Councill Street, Boone, NC, on July 18, 2015, at 2:00 in the afternoon. Burial will follow at a later date in St. Josephs Cemetery in River Grove, IL.
