Dec. 8, 2014. The Avery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of a missing 60-year-old female from Linville.
Officers received a report of Dorothy Barber missing from her home in Linville late Saturday evening. Barber left her home sometime Saturday morning (Dec. 6, 2014) and was traveling to King, N.C.
Her expected time of arrival in King was 2 p.m. Mrs. Barber didn’t arrive in King and there has been no answer on her cell phone.
Barber left Linville in a 1998 four-door Toyota Camry. The Toyota is beige in color and is bearing North Carolina tag AAF 3455.
A N.C. Silver Alert notes that Barber “is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.”
She was last seen at 287 Ruffin St. in Linville. She was last seen wearing a red vest.
She weighs 150 pounds and is 5-foot-8. She has medium-length, dark-brown-with-gray-streaks hair and green eyes.
