Jan. 15, 2014. On Dec. 30, officers with the Avery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a local retail business about a person inside the store having difficulty walking and standing up inside the store. Officers responded to the store and located 36-year-old Chasity Whittington.
After making contact with Ms. Whittington, officers located seven prescription pills and items of drug paraphernalia in her possession. Ms. Whittington was not able to produce a prescription for the pills. Officers arrested Ms. Whittington and she was placed in the Avery County Jail under a $3,000 bond.
On the evening of Jan. 11, officers with the Avery County Sheriff’s Office went to Brooks Shell Road in Elk Park looking for 18-year-old Aamon Nathan Webb in reference to an outstanding felony probation violation.
On their arrival, officers located 41-year-old Freddie Bare of Brooks Shell Road and 19-year-old Michael Arnett of Beech Mountain Road. Officers also located items known to be consistent with a methamphetamine lab at the residence and another male subject. Webb was later located at the residence and arrested on the outstanding probation violation without incident.
Arnett and Bare were both charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine. Bare was placed in the Avery County Jail under a $100,000 bond. Arnett was placed in the jail under a $101,000 bond. Webb received a bond of $8,000. The forth male subject is still under investigation and charges are expected after a complete investigation.
