Carolyn Walton Cooper, D. Feb. 28, 2014
Carolyn Walton Cooper, 57, of Jonesborough, TN, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Johnson City Medical Center.
She was a native of Asheville, a daughter of the late Seth Thomas Walton, Jr. and the late Margaret Eller Walton.
Carolyn had worked for many years at The Flower Shop in Newland and enjoyed working in her flower garden. Carolyn was one of those people who made everyone around her feel good about life, and she had a contagious smile.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ashley Cooper; her brother and sister in law, Kenny and Jackie Church, and her mother and father in law, Aggie and Dallas Cooper.
She leaves behind her daughters, Amy Cooper of Spruce Pine, Haley Johnson, and her fiancé, Matt McDougald of Jonesborough, TN; her loving companion of the past 15 years, Jimmy Guinn of Jonesborough, TN; grandson, Samuel Thomas Ingram of Spruce Pine; a host of friends, family, and special children.
Carolyn’s family will receive friends on Monday, March 3, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.

Fay Cannon, D. Feb. 27, 2014
Fay Cannon, age 84, of Elk Park passed away on February 27, 2014 at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Avery County, she was born August 13, 1929 a daughter of the late Frank and Dorothy Johnson Laws.
She was a member of Heaton Christian Church and enjoyed reading, gardening, being outdoors and listening to country music.
Along with her parents, Fay was preceded in death by her: husband, Wayne Cannon; two brothers, Coleman and Elmer Laws; one son, Tony Cannon.
Fay has left to cherish her memory her: daughters, Della Rupard of Elk Park, Carolyn Ward and husband Danny of Banner Elk, Shelia Sue Cannon of Elk Park; foster son, Donnie Bare of Elizabethton, TN; sisters, May Guinn of Newland, Barbara Ann Sparks of Elk Park; brothers, Lawrence Laws and wife Lolita of Banner Elk, Billy Laws and wife Thelma of Three Oaks; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Fay Cannon will be conducted on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the Heaton Christian Church with Rev. Paul Cole officiating. Interment will follow in the Cannon Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour at the church.

Bobby Joe Calloway, D. Feb. 27, 2014
Bobby Joe Calloway, 70, of Newland, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at his residence.
A native of Avery County, he was a son of the late Gip Otis Calloway and the late Joe Rhyne Calloway. He worked in construction as a mason and enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Mr. Calloway served his country in the United States Army in Vietnam.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Benfield Calloway; son, Jeffrey Louis Calloway; a sister, Faye Gunter; and brothers, Buddy and Roy Calloway.
He leaves behind his sons, Robert Calloway and his wife, Jada, of Newland, Derick Calloway, and his wife, Shelley, of Butler, TN; grandchildren, Alexandra Calloway-Nation, Gillian Calloway-Nation, McKinley Calloway; sister, Rosalyn Ellis; brothers, Tom, Charlie, Jake, John, Bill, and David Calloway.
Services for Bobby Joe Calloway will be Thursday, March 6th 2:00 p.m. in the Grandfather Chapel with Rev. Jim Shoupe officiating. Interment will follow in the Daniels Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the services in the Grandfather Chapel.

Cameron Lane Gentry, infant son of Kaitlyn Laws and Matthew Gentry, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014 in Winchester, VA.
Richard E. Robbins, D. Feb. 25, 2014
Richard E. Robbins, age 68, of Linville passed away on February 25, 2014 at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Avery County, he was born October 5, 1945 a son of the late Edward Culby and Dora Thelma Elliott Robbins.
He was a mechanic for Thompsons Auto Repair and enjoyed building his own home, mechanicing and rebuilding cars and watching the National Geographic Channel.
Richard was a member of Pineola Presbyterian Church, the Masonic Lodge in Simpsonville, SC and the Shriners.
A fun and enjoyable man who never met a stranger and a great Daddy and Husband, Richard has left to cherish his memory his: wife, Sandy Robbins of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Matt Myers of Greenville, SC.; son, Rick Robbins of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Beau Elliott Godfrey, Cameron Greene Godfrey, M.J. Myers.
Funeral services for Richard E. Robbins will be conducted on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 7:00 pm at the Grandfather Chapel of Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with Rev. J. Scott Fuller officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until the service hour.
