Everette Dale Thompson, D. April 3, 2014
Mr. Everette Dale Thompson, age 85, of Pineola, passed from this world into heaven Thursday morning, April 3, 2014. A life-long resident of Pineola, Dale was born, March 22, 1929, to the late Donald M. and Nellie Phillips Thompson.
After attending Crossnore High School Dale served in the U. S. Army. After returning to Pineola he married, Nancy Keller Thompson of Pineola. Dale was gifted in a variety of professions.
He worked as nurseryman and was very knowledgeable about all native mountain plants, shrubs and trees. For years he worked in all areas of construction both residential and commercial. He was an expert carpenter, and was carpenter and job foreman on many large construction projects throughout the southern states.
Dale was a faithful follower of Christ and a life long and devoted member of the Pineola Presbyterian Church.
He was an avid reader and a knowledgeable and discerning student of the Bible. Dale loved being outdoors and loved the mountains. He was especially happy when he could be fishing in a mountain creek or river. Dale was a master story teller and carried on a mountain tradition by entertaining his listeners with tales of family, local neighbors and of times gone by. He was also the Thompson family historian.
Dale was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Nancy Keller Thompson. He is survived by his son, Matthew Thompson, of Raleigh, NC and his daughter, Marcia Thompson Jennings and her husband, Bob, of Banner Elk, NC; two grandchildren, Natasha Thompson and her husband, Adam Pollack of Raleigh and Kelsey Phillips of Banner Elk and one great-grandchild, JP Levy, of Banner Elk. Dale is also survived by a large and caring extended family of his siblings, nephews, nieces and cousins.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Pineola Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, Pineola, NC 28662.

Janet Sims of Linville Land Harbor died March 30 after a courageous fight against cancer. She was born June 12, 1938.
