The Avery County Beer and Wine Festival Returns to the High Country this Saturday at the Blind Squirrel Brewery Campground

On Saturday, June 10, from 12-5 p.m., Avery County Chamber of Commerce will present the Avery County Beer and Wine Festival at the Blind Squirrel Brewery Campground in Plumtree. 

“The event is in Avery County, and Plumtree is a really special place,” Drew Henson, Sales and Marketing Assistant for Blind Squirrel Brewery, said. “Our campground and amenities are all so unique for this year’s festival. It’s a great place for this kind of event.”

While this is the fifth year that the Avery County Beer and Wine Festival is taking place, it is the first year that Blind Squirrel Brewery is hosting the event. There will be a shuttle running from the brewery to the campground through the entire day, making transportation easy, convenient and safe. 

“We’re super excited about hosting this event,” Henson said. “It’s really awesome to be involved in such an important capacity.”

Throughout the event, there will be live music by bands such as the Typical Mountain Boys, along with pizza being served on site of the festival to those in attendance. 

Be sure that you bring a chair or a blanket to sit on! This event is for people ages 21 and up, so keep this in mind when purchasing tickets. Tickets in advance are $20 while tickets at the gate on the day of are $25. 

The admission price includes a glass that will allow you a “flight of tastings” per wine and beer participating, providing you with the ultimate Avery County Beer and Wine Festival experience. 

“The way it’s all set up, the way that we format it is, that each winery or brewery will be pouring four tastings,” Henson said. “So those participating in the festival can get up to four samplings from each vendor.”

June is such a beautiful month in the High Country, so this festival is happening during the perfect time. With stunning views through the campground and amazing temperatures int eh air, the Beer and Wine Festival is just what you need on this mid-June Saturday. 

Different varieties of beer and wine will be provided from local breweries. According to Henson, there will be around 8-10 vendors, including Blind Squirrel Brewery, Linville Falls Winery, Lost Province Brewing Company, Boondocks Brewing Company, Banner Elk Winery and Villa, Beech Mountain Brewing Company, Flat Top Brewing Company, Lake James Cellars Winery and so many more! The day of the event, there will be tours offered of the Blind Squirrel Brewery. 

With live music, local breweries and wineries, delicious foods and a beautiful venue, you can’t go wrong choosing to spend your Saturday at the Blind Squirrel Brewery Campground for the 2017 Avery County Beer and Wine Festival!
