Sept. 22, 2014. The meteorological summer ended a few weeks ago, but today – the autumnal equinox, which begins at 10:29 p.m. – marks the first day of fall in terms of the astronomical start to the season.

And as RaysWeather.com noted, the cool air moves in “almost right on schedule.”

“Tonight and Tuesday night will have a nip in the air–the first brushes with the 30s for “cold hole” locations like Valle Crucis and Banner Elk. Pleasant weather continues into Wednesday,” RaysWeather.com noted in its recent forecast.

But with that cool air comes plenty of sunshine and clear skies – four golf ball days as Ray likes to rate them.
