ASU Student Charged Second Degree Rape



June 25, 2014. On Wednesday, June 11, Boone Police received a report of a sexual assault.

The victim, a 22-year-old Appalachian State University student, was assaulted by an acquaintance and the incident occurred at an off-campus location.

On June 20, Boone Police arrested Samuel “Sam” Wayne Luellen, 24, of Boone.  Mr. Luellen, also an Appalachian State University student, was charged with one count of Felony Second Degree Rape.

Mr. Luellen was taken before a Watauga County Magistrate, where he was assigned a court date of July 30, and placed under a $125,000 secured bond.
