Appalachian State On Spring Break Vacation Through This Coming Weekend; AppalCART Reducing Routes

By Paul T. Choate

March 11, 2013. Beginning this past Friday, Appalachian State University students were “free at last” when their final class of the day let out — for a week or so anyway. From March 11 to 15 the university is on Spring Break and most of the roughly more than 16,000 ASU students will file out of Boone.

With the absence of the majority of the university’s population, the AppalCART bus service will be reducing their regular routes during the week of the break. High Country locals can expect to see noticeably less traffic this week and maybe even a vacant parking space here and there.

During the period, AppalCART will operate the Red, Green 1, POP 105, Purple and Orange bus routes. All routs will end service at approximately 8 p.m.

Parking lot shuttles will resume on Sunday, March 17, with the State Farm Shuttle, Gold and Red routes.

On Monday, March 18, the Blue, Gold, Express, second and third POP 105, second Orange and second Green routes will reusume their normal schedules.

ASU students will return to class on a regular schedule beginning March 18.
