ASU Kappa Sigma Members Raise Money for Kids With Cancer By Shaving Heads Saturday From 10 am to 3 pm

By Jesse Wood

April 12, 2013. ASU fraternity members of Kappa Sigma Lamda Nu are shaving their heads on Saturday, April 13, to raise $2,500 for St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which fights childhood cancer.

mediumA part of International Day of Service, the event takes place in the new portion of the Plemmons Student Union, Three Top Mountain Room, on the campus of ASU from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

William Bryan said that at least 20 of the 35 fraternity members are participating in the head shavings, where local licensed hairdressers are donating their time and skills.

“There should be a good group of bald people for a picture,” Bryan said, adding that “we’re just getting the word out and trying to fight cancer within children.”

So far, the fraternity has raised $1,810, which is 72 percent of its goal, from friends and family during the last three weeks, and the public fundraiser is culminating with Saturday’s cue ball event.
