Dec. 22, 2014. An Ashe County man accused of killing his son after an argument on Thursday evening was arrested in the early hours of Friday.
Benjamin Nieves Tirado, 57, was charged with murder of his 20-year-old son Daniel David Tirado and possession of a firearm by a felon. He is expected to be in court on Jan. 8, 2015.
According to reports of the incident, deputies with the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office responded to 2859 Ripshin Road in Lansing and found the younger Tirado dying of a gunshot wound near his right shoulder. He was pronounced dead after Ashe Medics transported him to Ashe Memorial Hospital.
Tirado was released from prison in April 2013. He served more than four years for a number of breaking-and-entering offenses. He has a criminal record dating back to 1997, according to the N.C. Department of Public Safety Offender page.
