Cloaninger is known for her colorful collages full of depth and dimension.

“There is nothing more enjoyable than the creative process. Your mind is in a different place, leaving behind all worries and concept of time,” Cloaninger says of her art. “Spirals, circles, abstract designs, textures and figures have always intrigued me. I employ use of bright colors and elements of collage to bring excitement to a work of art. Exploring mixed media and beautiful colors is comparable to indulging in good dark chocolate.”

You will enjoy working with Cloaninger as you have fun learning how to paint a creative and colorful background, and then explore collage and experiment with placing collage elements on your painted background. You’ll want to wear old clothing and bring your favorite brush, along with a roll of paper towels, a bucket and a hair dryer.

Tuition for the workshop is $36, payable upon registration, and there is a $22 materials fee which you will pay to the instructor. The workshop will take place at the Blue Ridge ArtSpace in Boone. Space in this workshop is limited.

To register go to the online store at www.watauga-arts.org or contact the Arts Council at 828-264-1789.
