Image from bookNov. 19, 2013. “One Night, Two Moons,” is Joe Miller’s latest artistic addition to the High Country. This children’s book brings together the joys of Christmas with the age old tradition of Christmas tree farming in western North Carolina.

“It’s the story of a little girl who spends the night at her grandfathers house, and he has a Christmas tree farm,” remarked Miller. “Some time during the night she hears a noise, and outside are Christmas trees dressed up like people.”

The presence of two moons has awaken all the Christmas trees at her grandfather’s farm and they’re rearing for some fun, because why should only humans get to have parties?

They pull out their banjos, guitars, trumpets and drums and start having their own Christmas party. The girl runs outside to partake in the festivities and meets a certain special Christmas tree, TreeAnna. The two play through the night with the other trees and when dawn breaks, all the Christmas trees make a mad dash for their stumps before her grandfather wakes and catches them.

Joe Miller’s paintings come to life as they merge with the words on the pages. This book is a masterful creation full of marvelous watercolor techniques and tremendous creative style.
