July 29, 2014. A delightful smorgasbord of the arts awaits you on Friday, Aug. 22 at the Harvest House in Boone. The Watauga County Arts Council’s annual fundraising event is fast approaching.
Tickets are available for $75 and there are still tickets available. Tickets can be purchased at the door of the event, but the council recommends purchasing tickets in advance. The Artfull Palette, one of the oldest events of the Arts Council, has enjoyed a recent updating and the new location at Harvest House is perfectly suited to this newly revised event.
Throughout the evening you will enjoy various performances ranging from classical to swing to traditional. You’ll enjoy watching dancers, a variety of hors d’oeuvres, wines and other beverages and fine company.
One of the more classical performances will feature David Smith, classical and acoustic guitarist who not only performs locally, but also teaches guitar lessons to beginning and more advanced students at the Arts Council’s home, the Blue Ridge ArtSpace, through their partnership with the Community Music School. He also teaches as an adjunct music professor at Emory & Henry College in Emory, Va.
He holds degrees from UNC Charlotte in Music and Traditional Philosophy and a Master of Music Performance in Classical Guitar from Appalachian State. He has played in a Jazz duo, a Rock cover band, and helps with the music performances on Sundays at the Watauga County High School.
Primarily, David focuses his attention on classical guitar music from various time periods and to travel the world playing music is one of his dreams. You are encouraged to express your own creativity by dressing “artfully” or you can simply enjoy an opportunity to wear your party attire.
You may purchase tickets online at www.watauga-arts.org, by contacting the Arts Council directly at 828-264-1789 or by stopping by the Blue Ridge ArtSpace at 377 Shadowline Dr. in Boone.
