Art Demonstrations For the Avery Tour de Art at Carlton Gallery to Be Held on Saturday, Sept. 24

By Emily Willis

Come out to the Carlton Gallery this Saturday to participate in the art demonstrations by Marion Cloaninger and Egi Antonaccio this Saturday, Sept. 24! The demonstrations are a part of the Avery Tour de Art, a coalition of area galleries and artists’ private studios.

Cloaninger plans a mixed media demonstration from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. using a Gelli-Plate, a soft surface to print paper or make designs using stencils, stamps or silhouettes. She utilizes her vivid imagination along with a brilliant use of color and personal techniques to make distinctive art.

Cloaninger says, “Spirals, circles, abstract design, textures and figures have always intrigued me. Exploring mixed media and beautiful colors is comparable to indulging in good, dark chocolate”.

Antonaccio will paint a landscape from 2 to 4 p.m. in his signature style using palette knives. His subject matter is drawn from local scenery, vistas, flora and fauna. His demonstration will be filled with technique, helpful information and a little bit of awe for the beginner, as well as more experienced painters.

The gallery is located at 10360 Hwy 105 South in the Grandfather Mountain Community.  Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. For information on Artists, Exhibition or Workshops, call (828) 963-4288 or visit their website.
