The Art Cellar to Open Season with Bob Eoff’s ‘Local Color’, See It May 26 – June 11

The Art Cellar Gallery is excited to kick off the season with the first exhibition, Local Color: Paintings by Robert (Bob) Eoff. The exhibition opens May 26th and will be hanging in the main gallery until Saturday, June the 11th.

Originally, from Memphis, Tennessee, Bob spent most of his adult career in broadcast television for The New York Times Company in New York City. He began painting in the early 1970’s after being inspired by the work produced in an artist colony in Memphis. Initially self taught, Bob trained himself in the way of the brush and the flow of colors. Eventually, Bob took classes in 2001 which led him away from his “colored water” paintings into the richly pigmented watercolors that are evident today.

Art by Bob Eoff

Bob always made time for his artwork during his professional career. When he eventually retired in 2011 he was afforded the luxury to paint full time. Local Color will feature a combination of newly completed watercolors and oils. Robert has been with the Art Cellar Gallery for eleven years, his work continues to focus on local people, interesting places and vistas of the high country in vivid broad brush strokes. The work of Robert Eoff has been featured throughout the high country and the South. He is an associate member of the North Carolina and Florida Watercolor Societies as well as the American Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society.

This season will feature many wonderful art exhibitions with new and seasoned artists from the Gallery’s stable of artists. We will be having our ever popular Saturday morning Coffee Talks each Saturday morning starting May 28th through August 27th. Coffee talks are always different and always from 10-12. With a cup of coffee or tea, guests may experience many different forms of interaction with the artists; a live demo, a casual talk, a lecture, slide show; we never know.

In addition to his exhibition, Robert Eoff will be launching our Coffee Talks as the first artist on May 28th. This animated, larger than life personality will be discussing his process and inspirations for his work. He will show and talk about his early work in comparison to his newest creations. From farm and fields to friendly animals, including “Sweetie”, an engaging pig full of personality. Eoff has mastered a stand alone style and palette that captures the beauty of the area.

The Art Cellar Gallery has been a leader in the arts community in the region for over twenty-three years and continues to highlight the paintings and sculptures of regional, national and internationally acclaimed artists from across the Southeastern United States.
