The Appalachian Rollergirls Boone Shiner team came up short against the Blue Ridge Rollergirl’s French Broads, 211-180, on July 16 in Asheville.

Su White, “Rainbow Rucker” of the Boone Shiners said that they started out with a great attitude. “Unfortunately we let the French Broads break up our walls really easily in the first half and were down by a pretty wide spread,” White said.

During halftime, Boone Shiners were able to regroup and narrow French Broad’s lead down.

“They had one jammer that we were unable to holdback for long though, and they used her to great effect,” White said.

Overall, White said, the team felt really positive about the game learned a lot that they will take forward in the next bout.

“The jams that I was in on were awesome, and a little terrifying. The Broads are a really strong team and they pushed us to play harder,” White said.

The Appalachian Rollergirl’s last home is a double header held at the Holmes Convocation Center on August 27 and the doors open at 3:30 p.m. The Appalachian Rollergirls’ Boone Shiners will go against the Chattanooga B-Railers at 4 p.m. and then Appalachian Rollergirl’s All-Stars will face off with the Chattanooga All-Stars at 6 p.m.
