In late June, Teague announced that she would be resigning from the council because of an upcoming move out of town. In an email addressed to town residents, Teague wrote:

It is with a heavy heart that I am writing to say, I will be resigning from the Boone Town Council effective July 31st, 2017. My husband and I will be moving to Blowing Rock in August.  It was an honor to be elected to Council in November of 2015 and to serve its residents.  In my time on Council, I have tried to serve the residents of Boone to the best of my ability and to respond to your concerns.  I will miss serving with Mayor Rennie Brantz, my fellow councilwomen and working with the wonderful town staff.  It has been a privilege to serve on the Boone Town Council and I want to thank each of you who have supported me.  I encourage each of you who believe you can make a difference and
contribute positively to the Town of Boone to consider running for office or serving on a committee.  Finally, I wish the residents, the Council and the Town all the best as Boone continues to face growth and change in the upcoming years.

Sincerely,
Jen Teague
