April 8, 2014. In a collaborative effort between Appalachian’s Performing Arts Series, Department of Theatre and Dance and the Hayes School of Music, Kiss Me, Kate is closing out the 2013-14 Performing Arts Series. From April 11-13, 104 students from 38 different academic programs at Appalachian will perform on the Schaefer Center Stage. Performances on April 11 and 12 begin at 8 p.m. and April 13 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students. Originally produced in 1948, Kiss Me, Kate has been considered one of Broadway’s treasures. It was revived in 1999, taking advantage of new technology in music and keeping in mind evolving social values.
