Appalachian’s Spring 2015 Visiting Writers Series Features Readings and Craft Talks

The spring 2015 Hughlene Bostian Frank Visiting Writers Series will once again bring authors, poets and award-winning writers to the campus of Appalachian State University. This season’s events will feature four distinct writers from around the country who will visit the university to share their craft.

The series will kick off on Thursday, March 19, when Juanita Tobin Memorial Poet Hank Lazer visits the campus. From a release:

hanklazerHank Lazer is the author of fourteen books of poetry. For over thirty years, he has published poetry in America’s leading literary magazines. Lazer’s work has been nominated for the 2005 Pulitzer Prize and the 2004 Forward Prize. 

Lazer will participate in a Craft Talk from 2-3:15 p.m. in the Table Rock Room of the Plemmons Student Union, and will hold a reading at 7:30 p.m. in the same place.

Next, the Visiting Writers Series will present Roxane Gay on Thursday, April 16. The author has many published short stories and has been featured in numerous literary giants such as The New York Times Book Review, TIME, The Los Angeles Times, The Nation, Salon and many more.

Roxane Gay will hold a craft talk from 2-3:15 p.m. in the Table Rock Room of the Plemmons Student Union, and a reading at 7:30 p.m.

The series will conclude with the presentation of Emerging Voices Megan Kaminski and Tim Early on Thursday, April 23.

The authors will hold craft talks from 2:00-3:15 p.m. in the Table Rock Room of Plemmons Student Union. A reading will be held in the same location starting at 7:30 p.m.

All Hughlene Bostian Frank Visiting Writers Series events are free and open to the public.
