Each summer, through the month of July, Appalachian Summer Festival presents a variety of music, dance, theater, visual arts and film programming for audiences at Appalachian State University’s campus. As another year of Appalachian Summer comes to a close, your final chance to see what the buzz is all about will be on August 4.
The festival prides itself on upholding its vision for artistic excellence, innovation and engagement each year. Kristin Chenoweth’s performance will continue this vision and close the 34th season by giving patrons something to remember until next year’s season. At 8 p.m. at the Schaefer Center, Chenoweth will perform an array of songs and tunes in “An Intimate Evening with Kristin Chenoweth.”
Kristin Chenoweth is an Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress and singer. She will make her debut on the Schaefer Center stage, where she will be performing an array of her most memorable songs and Broadway tunes. These will include music from Wicked, Promises Promises and Glee.

With such an exciting performance in store, it’s easy to see why the Appalachian Summer Festival is so popular with the Boone community. The festival board strives to arrange the best performances for the audience.
On Appalachian Summer Festival’s website, they write, “The festival forges a unique national identity through artistic excellence, innovative programming, commissioning new works, educational opportunities, and by bringing the most accomplished and respected creative and performing artists from around the world to the Appalachian State University community.”
Festival Advisory Board member Lynn Eisenberg adds, “It is such a joy and privilege to meet new friends at festival events every summer – including local residents and visitors from across the nation who value quality arts programming and who delight in being with others who share this passion.
