Update: ASU’s Visiting Writers Series Presentation April 17 Featuring Richard Hague Cancelled Due to Illness

April 11, 2014. Appalachian State University’s Hughlene Bostian Frank Visiting Writers Series will continue with poet Richard Hague on Thursday, April 17.

Hague will present at the Table Rock Room in the Plemmons Student Union at Appalachian State University at 7:30 p.m., and will host an author talk earlier that day also in the Table Rock Room on Poetry, Politics and the Environment at 3:30 p.m. Book sales and signings will follow the talk and the reading. Admission to these events is free and the events are open to the public. 

imgresRichard Hague was raised in Ohio and received degrees from Xavier University in Cincinnati and studied at Northwestern University, Ohio State University and Oxford University. 

Hague is the winner of four Individual Artistic Fellowships from the Ohio Arts Council as well as grants from the Marianist Community Fund, the Foxfire Fund and the Southern Poverty Law Center. 

He is the author of fifteen poetry collections and was named co-poet of the year in 1985. Currently, Hague teaches at Purcell Marian High School in Cincinnati where he has taught since 1969. Hague is married to his wife, Pamela Korte, associate professor of ceramics at Mt. St. Joseph College and has two adult children, Patrick and Brendan. 

The Spring 2014 Visiting Writers Series is supported by the Appalachian State University Foundation, Appalachian’s Office of Academic Affairs, The College of Arts and Sciences, the Department of English, the Summer Reading Program, the University Bookstore, Belk Library and the Appalachian Journal.
