Appalachian State’s Solar Decathlon: Europe Begins Upward Construction at Last; Photos Included!

by Madison V. Fisler

Oct. 10, 2013. On Wednesday, Oct. 9, the Appalachian State University Solar Decathlon: Europe Team continued construction on “Maison Reciprocite.” Around 8:30 a.m., the walls of the structure began to be assembled onto the completed flooring components of the building, in keeping with the timeline for the project. Today, they are continuing their work until 4 p.m. only to start again tomorrow.

Putting up the walls should take a few days, according to Mark Bridges, communications manager for Team Reciprocite.

Check out our photos of Team Reciprocite’s progress on their project so far.

The idea for the “Maison Reciprocite” is a multiple story structure, where one story would house commercial property, one would hold habitable spaces, and flex and greenspace would be included at the top.
