The Havana Cuba All-Stars will kick off Appalachian State’s performing series, ‘The Shaefer Center Presents’ on Sept. 27. Come out to enjoy the musical heritage and culture of Cuba!
The band’s music ranges from the rumba to the cha-cha-cha to the habanera. Comprised of Cuba’s greatest and most prominent musicians, the band’s melodies and rhythms showcase the cultural diversity of the Cuban people.
The Havana Cuba All-Stars:
- Fito Florian – Spanish Guitar, Tres & Chorus
- Alejandro (Flecha) Albar – Steel Guitar, Tres & Chorus
- Juan Luis (Luz Brillante) Alarcon – Bongos, Cowbell & Cajon
- Vicente Arencibia – Lead Vocal & Congas
- David Echevarria – Lead Vocal, Bongos & Hand Percussion
- Michel (Pata) Salazar – Bass and Chorus
- Camilo Menjura – Chorus, Hand Percussion, Guitar
- Andres V. Valdes – Chorus & Guitar
- Yoan Sanchez – Timbales, Snare, Congas & Percussion
- Eikel Venegas – 2nd Trumpet & Slide Trombone
- Michel Padron – 1st Trumpet & Valve Trombone
The band will be performing on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. Tickets prices are $25 for adults, $20 for faulty/staff and retired faulty/staff and $10 for students. You can purchase tickets online or by calling 800-841-2787 or 828-262-4046.
