Appalachian State University Listed Among The Princeton Review’s ‘Best in the Southeast’ for 2014 Best Colleges

Aug. 7, 2013. Appalachian State University is among 138 colleges included in The Princeton Review’s “Best in the Southeast” section of its website feature “2014 Best Colleges: Region by Region” released Aug. 5.

The “regional best” colleges constitute only 25 percent of the nation’s four-year colleges, according to The Princeton Review.

best_southeast“From hundreds of institutions we considered in each region, we selected these schools primarily for their excellent academic programs. Secondarily, we took into account what students attending the schools reported to us about their campus experiences at them on our student survey for this project,” said Robert Franek, senior vice president and publisher. “Only schools that permit us to independently survey their students are eligible to be considered for our regional ‘best’ lists.”

In Princeton Review surveys, students described Appalachian as having “caring and stimulating professors” as well as offering “challenging courses.” Students also credited the university for being “aware of the limitations of its size and location” and therefore offering “opportunities for creativity and growth” beyond the campus, including a residential facility in New York City.
