Appalachian State University will host a program of remembrance in response to Sunday’s Orlando shooting at 6 p.m. Monday, June 13, in the Plemmons Student Union Solarium, with brief remarks at 6:30 p.m.
The public is invited to attend. Parking will be available in the College Street Parking Deck.
“Our hearts and thoughts go out to those touched by the tragic shooting in Orlando this weekend. Our community mourns for those lost and we stand in solidarity with the families, the city of Orlando and the LGBTQ community to declare that hate will not win,” said Chancellor Sheri N. Everts.
“While there is much strength found in the power of community to face tragedy, I encourage each of us to seek out the support needed to deal with such loss and grief. Appalachian is a strong and caring community and during this difficult time we rely on each other for support and solace. “
