The Rollergirls are a nonprofit, all-female, skater-run flat track roller derby league and are part of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association.

The Rollergirls aim to empower female athletes and promote awareness and support for a variety of community-oriented programs.

The team opened their season in April with a home bout at the Holmes Center. They return this weekend for a double header at home with bouts at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22.

Join the fun to see them in action for just $12 in advance or $15 at the door for adults. Valid ASU student IDs will get you in for $8 in advance or $10 at the door. Children ages 12 and under get in free. Doors open at 5 p.m.

The Rollergirls are a nonprofit organization and have chosen to donate a portion of their upcoming, action packed event to High Country Local First. This benefactor is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to strengthening our local economy by supporting independent businesses, farms, and organizations in the high country. This event is sure to bring the area, family friendly fun with two bouts for the price of one.

The ARG’s Appalachian All-Stars take on the Classic City Rollergirls from Athens, Georgia at 6 p.m.. Immediately following, ARG’s Booneshiners will make their home debut against Star City Rollergirls from Roanoke, Virginia. The Booneshiners team is a mix of newer skaters and ladies from the Appstate Rollerderby Club.

Rollergirl merchandise will be available and interactive, family fun halftimes are planned. Support local roller derby and the local economy at the same time! The after party will be hosted by Cafe Portofino, at 10 pm with the local band, Empathetic.

Advance tickets are available at the following local businesses: Lucky Penny, Piedmont Federal Savings Bank, Woodlands Barbeque, The Riverside Spa, Muscle Works, and Cafe Portofino. Tickets are available online at www.theholmescenter.com or www.appalachianrollergirls.com.
