April 24, 2013. Have you ever been to a roller derby game? Actually, the games are called bouts and if you haven’t you are missing out on a very entertaining and intense sport! The atmosphere is fun and family friendly and kids 12 and under receive free addmission. You can always find a facepainter, poster station and activities during the half time show for the kids.
The Appalachian Rollergirls (ARG) of Boone are in their third season and will be playing their first home bout of this season on Saturday, May 4 at the George M. Holmes Convocation Center on Appalachian State University campus. Currently for the 2013 season, ARG’s record is 2 losses and 1 win all on the road.
ARG will be hosting the Apocolypstix, a team within the Atlanta Rollergirls League. This will be the first time the two teams have met.
“I’m looking forward to the challenge this team will bring. We are trying to play more challenging teams so we can become a better team overall” says one of ARG’s team Captains Doc Holla Daze aka Cori Holladay.
