Appalachian Roller Derby and Watauga Humane Society Team Up For Photo and Adoption Event

What could be better than cats, dogs, and roller skates? Fresh off their successful 2018 season, skaters from Appalachian Roller Derby will be part of a Watauga Humane Society adoptable animal photo shoot on Saturday, September 8 at 2 pm. In addition to the photo shoot, skaters will be around the center to encourage pet adoptions.

“Most of our skaters have adopted from their local shelters. No home is complete without an animal friend. My cats keep me company after a tough practice!” said Honey Boom Boom, President of Appalachian Roller Derby.

The Watauga Humane Society is in its 49th year and strives to care for and enrich the lives of all animals entering their care. The goal is to ensure that every animal entering the facility finds a suitable new home. Appalachian Roller Derby is entering their 8th year and is fully committed to playing high level roller derby and giving back to the local community.

Local professional photographer Lynn Willis of High Country Creative will be lending artistic direction.

Stop by on Saturday to meet a Roller Derby Athlete and a new furever friend! The Watauga Humane Society is located at 312 Paws Way, Boone.
