Appalachian Regional Healthcare System to Offer Home Health and Home Care for Sale

Feb. 6, 2013. Over the past few months, Appalachian Regional Healthcare System (ARHS) has been evaluating the system’s home health and home care programs. Through this thorough evaluation, ARHS has determined that the home health and home care needs of their clients could be better met by an agency whose core business is only home health and home care.

“Several home health and home care agencies have entered the high country market place in recent years. With home health and home care being their core business function, they are able to offer specialized services to the residents of the high country,” stated Richard Sparks, President & CEO, Appalachian Regional Healthcare System. “It is our goal to align with an agency that can expand on the quality care ARHS Home Health & Avery Home Care clients have received, and offer additional specialized services to aid in their care.”

Over the next few months, ARHS will identify several larger and highly experienced home care providers that would be interested in acquiring its programs and continue to offer the high quality care and service dependability, which clients currently receive from the staff of ARHS Home Health and Avery Home Care. Like almost all smaller home care providers in rural areas of the nation, ARHS believes that developing a relationship with a larger home care provider will help assure these essential in-home services for our area’s residents are preserved and even expanded in the future.

During this transition period, ARHS Home Health & Avery Home Care will continue to provide the high quality care their patients have always received.

No other ARHS services are affected by this decision. Appalachian Regional Healthcare System is in a growth mode. ARHS will continue to expand Cardiology services, develop an Orthopedic service line and enhance long-term care services. Additionally, plans are moving forward for Appalachian Place at Chestnut Ridge, the new Post-Acute Care Center to be built in Blowing Rock, as a replacement for Blowing Rock Hospital.
