American Indoor Football (AIF) a professional indoor football league based out of Baltimore Md., is pleased to announce its latest team and territory.
The new team will be located in the Western North Carolina-Boone area and will be owned by a small group of investors, led by majority owner and North Carolina entrepreneur, Donald Thompson. Other investors include a championship-college football coach and a former Appalachian State University All-American football player.
The team will be begin AIF league play in the 2017 season.
Thompson is from a football family. His dad was an NCAA Division I college football coach and Thompson was awarded a football scholarship to East Carolina University.
Thompson stayed at ECU for several years before entering the business world.
In business, Thompson has achieved many accomplishments from company CEO, business strategist, author and entrepreneur. Thompson attributes many of his business successes to being around his father’s football teams as well as his time in college with the ECU football program.
“As the son of a coach, and former collegiate athlete I have always dreamed about extending my career as a professional athlete,” said Thompson. “It is with great joy and enthusiasm that our association with AIF will allow us to create a winning franchise for our fans and an opportunity for our players to chase their dreams.”
A tech executive, business strategist and author, Thompson is currently the CEO for Creative Allies, an integrated marketing firm that focuses on helping celebrity and consumer brands execute marketing campaigns and engage customers. Thompson also serves on company, university and state boards, leading organizations to exponential growth, expanded capabilities and innovative culture.
Thompson attributes many of his business successes to being around his father’s football teams as well as his time in college with the ECU football program.
John Morris CEO of American Indoor Football said he is excited to have Thompson and his Western North Carolina-Boone area territory in the AIF.
“This location is a good fit for the AIF as they will have many state wide and regional opponents such as Winston-Salem and Raleigh N.C, Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Savannah, Atlanta and Columbus Ga.,” Morris said.
The AIF has 19 teams competing competing in the 2016 season, split into two divisions.
Southern Division teams include Albany, Ga., Atlanta, Ga., Columbus, Ga., Corpus Christi, Tx., Estero, Fl., Lakeland, Fl., Myrtle Beach, S.C., Pueblo, Co., Rio Rancho, N.M., and Savannah, Ga.
Northern Division teams include Allentown, Pa., Chicago, Il., Harrisburg, Pa., Highland Heights, Ky., Muskegon, Mi., Philadelphia, Pa., Raleigh, N.C., St. Charles, Mo., and Winston-Salem, N.C.
