AlivenFest Provides Mountaintop Opportunity to Experience Yoga, Meditation and Music Aug. 11-13

On August 11 – 13, 2017, Beech Mountain Resort will host the second-annual AlivenFest retreat featuring yoga, meditation and music experienced in the incredibly beautiful setting found on top of Beech Mountain. The event is designed for both men and women and will feature teachers from all walks of life and genders.

This year, the Altitude Adjustment Yoga Camp on Saturday, Aug. 12 will keep visiting children ages 5 to 10 delightfully occupied from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.. The camp (schedule below) will feature wake-up yoga sessions, Sun Salutations using the Beatles song “Here Comes The Sun,” an imagination-inspiring nature hike in the woods, group creation of an outdoor Fairy Garden, mid-day yoga and lunch time that includes the making of luminaries.

For the adults, AlivenFest provides an opportunity to immerse one’s self in the awe-inspiring splendor of the Western North Carolina Mountains while appreciating the healing powers of yoga, music, and meditation.
The festival brings together the region’s best yoga instructors and wellness experts to help attendees find happier, healthier and more peaceful versions of themselves.

Attendees can enjoy scenic lift rides, listen to music and experience gourmet organic food from Roaming Fork food truck. This year’s festival offers a wide variety of positive, enlightening and uplifting experiences with 12 teachers and over 30 classes offered. 

Some of the new activities featured at this year’s AlivenFest include a Fridaynight welcome dinner, the previously-mentioned kid’s yoga day camp, and a Kirtan (a musical form of spiritual narration or shared recitation) with Asheville’s favorite group, Sangita Devi.  

Community members are encouraged to attend a FREE hatha yoga class on Saturday, August 12th, at 1:00p.m., and are also welcome at the community Kirtan. 

Three day tickets are on sale now for $125 and single day passes are available for $60. Single class tickets are available on-site for $20. A portion of all proceeds will benefit Mountain True’s Watauga River Keeper. Availability is limited, so purchase your tickets today at www.alivenfest.com.

Altitude Adjustment Yoga Camp Schedule for Kids Age 5-10.

In this exciting yoga camp, your children will discover yoga poses throughout a fun-filled day of activities designed to help them gain an appreciation of nature as well as to learn yoga basics.

  • 9 a.m. –   Check In – Get to know each other session with emphasis on circle time.
  • 9:30 a.m.-Morning wake up yoga – Sun Salutations to “Here Comes the Sun.”
  • 10 a.m. – Nature hike looking for fairies in the woods with the creation of a Fairy Garden.
  • 11 a.m. – Yoga on the lawn – Twisting our way upside down.
  • 12 p.m. –  Lunch time including the making of chakra-colored luminaries.
  • 1 p.m. –  Dismissal.

Please bring a water bottle, sunscreen, and athletic shoes to the session. All children must be signed in by an adult over 18 years and signed out at the end of the session. All crafts are taken home. Yoga instruction will emphasize fun with fundamentals on form. Camp price is 50.00 per camper, lunch is included and space is limited.
