Feb. 10, 2014. On Thursday at 2 p.m., Avery High School went into lockdown for about 30 minutes after a student saw an unfamiliar person without a school ID walking into the high school.
In a statement, ACS Supt. David Burleson said, “She did exactly what we ask our students to do, tell a staff member. The staff member informed administration and they called a preventative lockdown. During the preventative lockdown, the school itself and the school grounds were searched. No one was found but we continue to ask for information and law enforcement will follow-up on any leads.
“We are very thankful for the everyone looking our for the safety of our students, especially the student who alerted us to the potential issue.”
