Dec. 6, 2013. On Nov. 19, a white male approached a female victim for directions as she was walking on East King Street.  A second suspect got out of their vehicle and briefly detained the victim while attempting to rob her.  The victim was able to escape without harm and the suspects fled in their vehicle.

The following day, investigators with the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office arrested Corey Paul Higgins for armed robbery. During the investigation, Higgins confessed to attempting to rob a female in Boone.  A second suspect, Matthew Keith Seymour was also implicated in the robbery in Wilkes County and the attempted robbery in Boone.

On Dec. 2, Boone Police arrested Higgins, 28, of Dobson, and Matthew Keith Seymour, 31, of Mount Airy, for one count each of felony second degree kidnapping and one count each of assault on a female.  They were each given a $50,000 secured bond pending a Jan. 21, court appearance.

The Boone Police Department is very appreciative of the assistance provided by the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office and the Jonesville Police Department during this investigation.
