ACS: ‘In The Know’ 11/5 Release

Welcome “Baby Boy Silver”!  Congratulations to Shannon Silver and family, ACS EC staff, on the birth of their new baby.  He arrived Monday, November 4th, weighing in at 7 pounds 6 ounces, 21 inches longs.  Mother and baby are doing great!

Newland Elementary is offering opportunity to win a 4-night 5-day trip to Orlando, Florida with 4 one-day passes to Disney World.  $10 each drawing 11/13th.  Please contact NES for purchase. 

11/21 “Hooway for Wodnet Wat!” 6:30 p.m.

Newland Elementary  K-5 students invite you to a enjoy the production of  “Hooway for Wodney Wat: Stories and Songs of Friendship and Peace”. It is an adaptation of the children’s book “Hooway for Wodney Wat”, about a rodent named Rodney Rat who is teased all of the time because he cannot pronounce his r’s thus making him Wodney Wat.  The story comes full circle when Wodney saves the class from the new student; big, mean Camilla Capybara.  All ages will enjoy.

High Country Community Health Insurance Opportunity

Dory Trimble, Outreach and Eligibility Specialist will be available on November 13, at 3:30 p.m., Avery High School to present opportunities about insurance eligibility for families and ACS employees.  There will be a time for questions and discussion.

November 18 to November 22, College Application Week (CAW) at Avery High School -Seniors will have the opportunity to apply to all North Carolina community colleges and most North Carolina four-year schools for FREE!  ACHS will offer opportunity assistance to seniors on Tuesday, November 19th.  Seniors must sign up in the Career Center for a day and time!

ACHS Letter Jackets

Students that have athletic, academic or band letters may order a Letter jacket.  Letter Jackets black wool (lined) with black leather sleeves, unisex, student’s name on the front and “A” on the back with the sport or activity symbol.  A representative Dillard’s Sporting Goods will be at ACHS on November 8 from 2:30 – 5:30 p.m. to try on jackets and to accept orders.

Letter Jacket prices:

$150 for sizes xs to XL

$157 for 2xl and $165 for 3xl

Prices include taxes, shipping/handling, and jacket design

Newland Elementary/Ruby Tuesday Community Giveback Program

Please join Newland Elementary School and Ruby Tuesday (1822 Blowing Rock Road, Boone) for a great meal and opportunity to raise money for the school. 20% of the purchase will be donated to the 5th grade class trip at NES.  Mark your calendars for the following dates:

“SCOTTIE” is in need of new or gently used educational toys.  Items may be dropped off at the ACS School Board of Education.  SCOTTIE (Supporting Children’s Opportunity through Technology Innovation Education) is a state endorsed mobile pre-k classroom program for children three and four years old thatare not enrolled in a pre-k program.  Please contact Angela Vitale, EC/Pre-K Director or Renee Banner, Administrative Assistant for more information.
