temperature_graph.jpgThe temperature was in the teens in Boone at midnight, steadily rose and then jumped about 10 degrees in a short span at about 8 a.m. Public schools had already cancelled class for the day, and App State announced it wouldn’t resume classes until the afternoon on Monday.

Roads have improved considerably since this morning. It was a slushy fest out there until mid morning.

While the snow has ceased, the National Weather Service’s winter storm warning is still in effect until noon on Tuesday. An additional one to three inches of snow and sleet and one-fifth inch of ice is expected while the warning is in effect.

Snow totals so far for the 2015-16 winter season, according to archives at RaysWeather.com.

  • Beech Mountain: 44.8 inches
  • Boone: 20 inches
  • Sugar Mountain: 50 inches
