May 23, 2013. Expect some unseasonably cool weather during the next couple days.
“Friday will be windy and shockingly cooler. As winds diminish Friday night, valleys could see frost late Friday night. I’ve said it a thousand times, wise gardeners around here hold off until Memorial Day,” noted RaysWeather.com in a forecast of the weekend.
RaysWeather.com expects a low of 36 Friday night with northwest winds 15 to 25 mph; On Saturday, the respected local weather outlet expects a low of 39.
The National Weather Service Forecast Office in Blacksburg, Va., is predicting Saturday morning to be much cooler than Friday night, which is forecasted to drop into the low 40s come midnight. Friday will feature gusts in the 30s, according to NWS, and a steady 15 to 25 mph wind throughout the day.
From midnight on, the temperature continues to drop, according to NWS’ latest forecast, to 37 come 6 a.m. and will steadily rise into the low 60s come early evening.
Either way you slice it, the weather’s going to be windy and chilly.
