Feb. 10, 2014. This afternoon, Boone and many other areas in the High Country received a dusting of snow, but it looks like is more expected to fall later in the week.  While a dusting or two on Monday and Tuesday is expected for the High Country, Wednesday and Thursday is another story.

On Monday afternoon, the National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch because of the “high potential for heavy snow Wednesday and Thursday” in the range of five to eight inches across the mountains to the Blue Ridge and six to 10 inches across the Piedmont.

Ray’s Weather is calling the pending storm “ a significant weather event” and alerts readers to expect snow Wednesday afternoon and night. Lows through Friday will be in the low 20s. Ray’s Weather will have a map on Tuesday detailing snow accumulation projections.

The winter storm watch expires Thursday at 6 p.m.
