Oct. 28, 2013. On the afternoon of Oct. 23, deputies with the Avery County Sheriff’s Office were alerted that two people with outstanding felony warrants were at the Valero on Linville Street. Deputies arrived at the convenience store to find Melissa Warren, 39, and Robert McLaughlin, 49. Both Warren and McLaughlin have a Linville address.
Officers found that both Warren and McLaughlin had felony breaking and entering charges for their arrest issued by Land Harbor Police. During the arrest, deputies found drugs and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle they were driving. In addition to the breaking and entering charges, deputies charged Warren with felony possession of a schedule II drug and possession of drug paraphernalia. McLaughlin was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Warren received a $20,000 bond and McLaughlin was given a $12,000 bond.
On Oct. 26. deputies with the Avery County Sheriff’s Office arrested Paul Brantley Lewis, 39, of Elk Park, near the Mini Market in Elk Park. Lewis had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear. Officers report that Lewis resisted their arrest during the arrest process and also that he had methamphetamine in his possession at the time. In addition to the failure to appear, Lewis is charged with possession of methamphetamine and resisting a public officer. Lewis was given a $7,000 bond at the Avery County Jail.
