LETTERS / Anti-bullying Play at Blowing Rock School is This Friday

Dear Editor,

I just can’t say it enough;  “THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE BLOWING ROCK!”  When Gary Smith approached me about children from Blowing Rock School wanting to start a campaign against bullying I immediately said, “How can I help?”  In turn, I said to many of you, “Will you help the children with this important project?”  Well, you did!  With your immediate, generous response this project has become a reality.

These three, age appropriate plays are entitled “Three Bully Goats Griff”, “Bystanders” and “Last Testament”.  The children will be presenting all three plays, free of charge for the general public, this Friday evening, March 1st at 7:00 p.m. at the Blowing Rock School auditorium.

I would personally like to thank the following who joined J.B. and me with their generous donations to this anti-bullying project:  Mr. & Mrs. John Aldridge, Mr. & Mrs. Tom Alexander, Mr. & Mrs. John Beall, individuals from the Blowing Rock Rotary Club, Janice Burns, Mr. & Mrs. Harry Cole, Mr. & Mrs. Byron Cooke,  Debbi & Tony DiSanti, Dr. & Mrs. Marshall Edwards, Mr. & Mrs. Dale Edwards, Mr. & Mrs. Paul Fairbetter, Bill and Joellyn Gibbons, Marianne & Bill Hall, Mr. & Mrs. Don Hubble, Mr. & Mrs. Jerry Hutchens, Dieter & Karyn Kennedy Herterick and the Ethel and W. George Kennedy Family Foundation, Steve and Kim Kincaid, Bill Leahey, Mr. & Mrs. John Marshall, Mr. & Mrs. Doug Matheson, Bob and Sandy Miller, Elizabeth M. Muraro, Betty Pitts, Mr. & Mrs. Roger Robertson, St. Mary’s of the Hills Episcopal Church, Genie & Jerry Starnes, Mr. & Mrs. Jim Steele, Ginny & Dave Stevens, Butch & Gina Triplett, and Howard and Diane Williams.  It’s not too late for you to get involved in supporting this production.  Just send your tax deductible donation to Ensemble Stage, P.O.Box 2606, Blowing Rock, NC  28605.  The children will thank you and so do I!

I also want to thank the parents that have supported their children by bringing them to practice and encouraging them to stand up against bullies by getting involved in this project.

I cannot find words adequate enough to thank Gary Smith and Lisa Lamont of Ensemble Stage for all that they have done to bring this project to reality!  Thank you, thank you Gary and Lisa.  We can all thank them by supporting Ensemble Stage as they continue to bring quality theater to Blowing Rock.

I hope that you will join me this Friday evening by making it a priority to support these children with your presence.  Come witness our future leaders and celebrate their hard work and passion for this life changing cause.

                                                            See you at the Theater!
