4 Forty Four Construction to ‘Buy Boone Lunch’ again at F.A.R.M. Cafe

On Wednesday, Feb. 22 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. everyone is welcome to F.A.R.M. (Feed All Regardless of Means) Cafe at 617 West King Street for another of what is now a monthly event where a local business, groups, or organizations ‘Buys Boone Lunch.’

We are very pleased that Blowing Rock Business of the Year 4 Forty Four construction of Blowing Rock is participating for the second time. They were the first business to support F.A.R.M. Cafe through this event in October of 2016.

FARM CafeThe monthly ‘Buy Boone Lunch’ days are similar to regular days at F.A.R.M. Cafe where guests can donate what they are able for a great lunch. However, with 4 Forty Four covering the cost of the meal on Wednesday February 22 through a generous donation, each and every additional donation will be utilized by the cafe in its mission to fight food insecurity in the High Country.

Kevin Troyer of 4 Forty Four learned of this opportunity at a chamber of commerce business breakfast at the cafe last summer.   On Wednesday Troyer and his employees will not only be ‘buying lunch’ but will also be serving as volunteer servers, cooks, and dishwashers working with the Cafe staff.   Following their day in October the experience led Troyer to say, “As we think about helping others and F.A.R.M. Cafe in particular our minds conclude three specific things: We at 4 Forty Four, first and foremost wanted to help F.A.R.M. Cafe fulfill its purpose and mission. We recognize that organizations such as F.A.R.M. Cafe cannot exist in isolation.  They need community to support and collaborate with them. Finally, it is the right thing to do.  It feels good to serve and help others.”

“We’re really looking forward to this second opportunity to support F.A.R.M. Cafe”, said Troyer, “we’re also excited to continue to introduce this community cafe to our clients, vendors, and friends. It is a great way to support and give back to this community that means so much to us.”

“Again we are so grateful that Kevin and the crew at 4 Forty Four are stepping up once again to participate in the ‘Buy Boone Lunch’ program” said Tommy Brown who serves as volunteer and development coordinator at the Cafe. “After just a few of these events we are seeing that ‘Buy Boone Lunch’ is a win/win opportunity for businesses and business leaders like Kevin who understand the benefit of giving back to the community through support of local non-profit organizations such as F.A.R.M. Cafe.”   In January Boone Drug Inc. was the second business to participate in this program when they hosted ‘Buy Boone Lunch & Downtown Boone Drug Good Old Days’.   Brown said, “We already have groups lined up into the summer to ‘Buy Boone Lunch’ and we look forward to working with more businesses and groups on what is becoming a monthly special event for downtown Boone.”

As stated on the web-site (4fortyfour.com), “4 Forty Four is a community-oriented team of people that are very grateful to live and work in Western North Carolina. We take our job, as stewards of this community that you will live in, seriously. Our intent is to reach beyond traditional business models to actively and responsibly engage our community, not merely service it. We value relational capital and treating people right. This starts in our office where all team members are treated like family and extends to you, our clients, who we strive to involve at every level of our systematic process.”

F.A.R.M. Café is a non-profit, pay-what-you-can community kitchen that builds a healthy and inclusive community. It provides high quality and delicious meals produced from local sources when available, served in a restaurant where everybody eats, regardless of means.  The Cafe is open for lunch Monday-Friday 11 AM to 2 PM.
