LETTERS / Liberals Can Quote the Bible Too

Dear Editor,

So in an ongoing series I like to call “Liberals can quote the bible too.” Let’s ask Matthew his opinion on everyone showing support to god against those evil freedom hating boycott calling liberals pushing the “gay agenda!” by indulging in a bit of chicken. Christianity at it’s finest! Support free speech!

Be careful not to do your ‘acts of righteousness’ before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
(Matthew 6:1-4)

Never mind what the CEO of CFA did say, he is an American, he’s entitled to his opinion. We’re entitled to spend money elsewhere. And he’s entitled to give the money appreciation day raised to a groups like NOM. A group that says. “Gays and Lesbians have a right to live as they choose, they don’t have the right to redefine marriage for all of us.” And I’m sure everyone at CFA that day, defenders of freedom that they are. They would have no problem at all saying “Those who believe in the bible have a right to live as they choose, but they don’t have the right to redefine morality or civil rights for the rest of us based on it.”

Oh wait we passed Amendment one, and religious “liberty” is safe and sound, never mind.

That ongoing bit of hypocrisy aside lets ask a more important question. The averaged out seven dollars per person that was spent on Junk Food for Jesus day? Complete with that line that took the police to direct traffic?

How much money would that raised if every one of you had taken that money and donated it to any local charity? How much food could that have bought for the hunger collation? How many building supplies could that have bought for Habitat for Humanity? How bout seven dollars for the Salvation Army when they’re out in front of stores? Maybe a couple new kennels and pet food for the Humane Society?

Now take that amount of people that came through our CFA, and multiply it by the 1614 stores across this country. How much good could that have done? But instead political hacks like Mike Huckabee convinced you that being a true god fearing MERICAN! is as easy as a #1 combo? Would you like a large Hail Mary on the side?

But I guess that’s the best we can expect from those who think freedom of speech means only that which “they” agree with. Freedom of religion means the right to impose “their” views on others through healthcare and lifestyle choices. But when we use our rights? And call them out on “their” discrimination in a country founded on equality for all? Only then is it an evil liberal assault on “their” freedom?

And now that you’ve “Done your part.” What did you do the day after? To quote another passage.

Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ He will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least among you, you did not do for me.’
Matthew 25:41-45

Here’s one other I think the Patriot in name only crowd should dwell on as they finish off the last couple waffle fries that fell into the bag.

“I prefer a man who will burn the flag and then wrap himself in the Constitution to a man who will burn the Constitution and then wrap himself in the flag.” (Former Congressman Craig Washington)

So which one are you?
