From 10 a.m. to noon on July 28th, the 32nd Rosen Sculpture Competition and Exhibition will be open to the public. This free event starts at the Schaefer Center with an introduction. 10 sculptures, each by a different artist, will be displayed across campus at Appalachian State University during a sculpture walk. The walk will conclude back at the Schaefer Center, where the top 3 winners will be announced and a reception will follow.

The Rosen Sculpture Competition and Exhibition is an annual national juried competition presented by An Appalachian Summer Festival and the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts. Martin and Doris Rosen established this competition in 1987. Since then, the competition continues with a tradition of showcasing contemporary American sculptures across the campus of Appalachian State University.

Twelve sculptures were chosen this year. In addition to the 10 placed at Appalachian State University, two other sculptures were installed at Appalachian House and at Blowing Rock Art and History Museum.

“Connection” by Brian Glaze is made from painted steel.
