2nd Annual Bikes, Brews and BBQ Fest Returns to Town Tavern

By Katie Benfield

On Saturday, Apr. 15, from 12-5 p.m. The Town Tavern of Blowing Rock will be hosting its 2nd Annual Bikes, Brews and BBQ Fest fundraiser.

“It’s motorcycles, beer and barbecue,” Justin Davis, owner of The Town Tavern in Blowing Rock, said. “That’s something that a lot of us can relate to, and it’s a great mix of things.”

The event will consist of numerous fun-filled activities that you don’t want to miss, such as two different kinds of tastings — one from 17 different breweries and a cookie tasting from Appalachia Cookie Co.

“There will be 17 breweries there, and most of the breweries will have three different beers that can be tasted,” Davis said. They aren’t just local brewing companies either, with companies such as SweetWater and Samuel Adams being present, as well as Appalachian Mountain Brewery and Booneshine Brewing Company.

Not only this, but there will be delicious smoked BBQ plates from The Town Tavern, door prizes and jamming live music by JJ Hips and the Highway.

“For just $25, you get to taste all of these beers, and you get a BBQ plate,” Davis said. “Also, we are doing door prizes throughout the entire day, and that’s included in the ticket.”

However, you can’t forget the bike aspect of the Bikes, Brews and BBQ Fest. There will be Cross Roads Harley Davidson Harleys for those of you itching to see some bikes during the brews and BBQ.

“The Cross Roads Harley Davidson will be showcasing some of their newer bikes,” Davis said, “And there will be some local Harley Davidson riders attending.”

Tickets are $25 per person, and all proceeds go towards the Watauga County Habitat for Humanity. This is a wonderful event to attend if you’re looking for a good time that will also be for a good cause!

“We have sold a good amount of tickets so far, so we are looking forward to a good turnout,” David said. “We are expecting to raise a lot of money for the Habitat for Humanity while also providing people with something new and fun to do.”
