Jan. 16, 2014. The official blog for the N.C. Education Lottery reported on Tuesday that a lottery ticket valued at more than $500,000 was purchased at the Wilco #281 on N.C. 105 in Boone.
The game in question was Carolina Cash 5, and the “jackpot rolled nine times in a row” before being hit on Monday night for $581,760, according to the Lucke-Zone website.
The odds of winning were about as high as the value of the ticket, standing at 1 in 575,757 to match all five numbers: 2,4, 21, 28, 34.
The blog mentioned that the ticket holder has 180 days to claim the prize at its headquarters in Raleigh.
On Thursday morning, Ryan Kennemur, a spokesman for the N.C. Education Lottery, said, “They haven’t come forward yet. Hopefully they will soon.”
