Grade schools are closed on Thursday as one to four inches fell in the High Country, – depending on whether you were on the eastern or western part of the region.
The NCDOT and municipal road crews have done a great job of keeping the main roads clear, while the secondary roads are snow-covered and slick.
With yesterday’s event behind us, the focus is on the big snowstorm, where accumulation should build from Thursday night to Saturday night. According to RaysWeather.com 18 to 24 inches is forecasted for the northwestern part of the state.
“It may be the most potent snow storm we have had since 1996 in terms of overall coverage and intensity. Snow develops after midnight tonight. Snow is heaviest Friday (with a brief period of wintry mix possible during the day). Snow and snow showers continue Saturday, ending Saturday night. Saturday will be very windy as well,” RaysWeather.com posted on Thursday morning.
