As the summer flies by, celebrate the end of June at the Avery County Wine and Beer Festival! On June 30, the Avery County Chamber of Commerce is hosting the festival from noon to 5 p.m. at Sorrento’s Dining Complex in Banner Elk.
All afternoon guests are invited to indulge in beverages from wineries and breweries of the High Country and surrounding area. Admission includes a complementary glass with the purchase of a $20 ticket in advance, or $25 ticket at the door. This ticket also grants you a “flight of tastings” per wine and beer participant.
This year there will be nine wine and beer vendors at the festival. Wine vendors include Banner Elk Winery, Eagles Nest Winery, Grandfather Vineyard & Winery, Lake James Cellars Winery, and Linville Falls Winery. Local and surrounding beer vendors include Beech Mountain Brewing Company, Blowing Rock Brewing Company, Booneshine Brewing Company, and Flat Top Mountain Brewery.
Rachel H. King, Avery County Chamber of Commerce’s Event Relations coordinator, says, “We’re excited about this event because it boots tourism and trade for our county. It’s not just the festival, people will come up and spend the weekend to visit our area and see what Banner Elk ha to offer.”
This event is designed to bring together the High Country, relax, and enjoy the craft wine and beer it has to offer. The family-friendly festival also includes live music, ice cream, food, and fun! So, bring a blanket and chair and spend the afternoon in Banner Elk. Seriously, what’s better than an afternoon with friends in the scenic High Country enjoying wine and beer?
