On April 4, 2016 detectives with the Avery County Sheriff’s Office received information of a forged prescription being passed in Mitchell County.
An investigation confirmed the information to be correct and that the passing of the forged prescription had been done by an Avery County resident.
Two search warrants were subsequently served in the Cow Camp community.
During the searches Oxycodone pills were located and a prescription pad that had been stolen from a local physicians office.
Two subjects, Brian Weeks, 29 of Newland, and Stephanie Dahl, 26, of Banner Elk, have been taken into custody and charged, there are charges outstanding on two other people at this time.
