Gas Prices Continue To Fall, Under $1.80 in Boone, Lowest Prices Since 2008

After falling about 60 cents from last summer to the end of 2015, January began with more of the same. Since the New Year began, gas prices have fallen about 20 cents.

The Carolina Petro, which is located on Blowing Rock Road in Boone (and is in the picture above) has the lowest price in Boone at $1.78 in Boone, according to NorthCarolinaGasPrices.com, which tracks prices via updates from motorists.

Several other gas stations in Boone are listed at selling a gas for $1.79. Prices in Blowing Rock and Banner Elk are a few cents higher. Meanwhile, gas stations in Roan Mountain, Elizabethton and Hampton, which enjoy a lower gas tax in Tennessee, are selling gas for around $1.55.

The average cost for a gallon of gas in North Carolina and the nation as a whole is $1.77, according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report.
