Studio 140 to Host Artist Kent Paulette on Dec. 26

On Saturday, December 26 from 6 to 10 p.m., Studio 140 hosts an opening for artist Kent Paulette.  Paulette will be painting live inside the gallery and will also be unveiling his newest painting, Chroma Thrills on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

When discussing this painting, he says, “The fall colors, especially the reds, at my home studio in Powder Horn Mountain this year were so amazing!  On the morning that I started Chroma Thrills, I waded through Laurel Creek to collect a bucket of creek water, and since it was raining, I also set out a bucket to collect rain water.  I may have been soaking wet after that, but it’s a good way to get connected to nature right before I begin a painting.  I mixed the rain water with the acrylic paint for the sky and I used creek water for all the trees.”

Paulette will be discussing his work and leading tours through the main gallery, next door at Sorrento’s, and throughout Studio 140’s exhibit spaces in downtown Banner Elk. There will also be a community painting that kids and adults can paint on for free.   Paulette’s work can be viewed online at www.KentPaulette.com
